Have a Chevrolet Diesel Truck 2001 to 2011 with a Fuel Injector Problem!?
The 6.6L Duramax diesel engine is also known as Duramax 6600.
The first engine was used in 2001 and has stayed in production through the present time.
There are currently six different versions of the Duramax engine:
Duramax LB7, LLY, LBZ,LMM, LGH, and LML.
The most common problem seen with the Duramax engine is the fuel injectors have a tendency to crack.
Signs of this problem include: a steady climb of engine oil level as diesel fuel is leaked into the engine oil.
A second common problem the the Duramax engine is the erosion of the injector seat.
Signs of this problem include: white smoke out the tail pipe at idle or occasional hard starting/long crank.
The 2001-2004 32 valve design was problematic for fuel injector leaking into crankcase causing oil dilution and overheating, causing a catalysing effect on 2001-2004 32 valve LB7 Chevrolet Kodiak-GMC Topkick-Silverado-GMC Sierra HD engines.
